Ensure that any new pilotage exemption certificates issued are subject to the existing size and area limitations currently applicable.

I advise that the Otago Regional Council supports recommendation 087/01 and that this recommendation is, and will continue as, current practice. Pilotage exemptions are specific, according to examination result, as being for Port Chalmers, Dunedin, or Port Chalmers and Dunedin. Also pilotage exemption certificates are limited as to dimension of vessel, the dimension limits being directly associated with the size of vessel the practical component of the examination was conducted on.
