Review the maintenance procedure to ensure as far as practicable that the amplifier/fault protection unit in the nose wheel steering system is replaced before it fails in service.

The nose wheel steering amplifier is an electronic device and as such an attempt to establish a time change requirement would be virtually impossible. It is our recommendation that Service Bulletin 227-32-034 be complied with to preclude the possibility of uncommanded steering actuations due to the bias in the old servo valve. We have no record of any uncommanded steering actuations following the installation of the new type servo valve.
