The Transport Accident Investigation Commission has opened an inquiry into the sinking of the fishing vessel Jubilee which occurred at about 5am yesterday (Sun 18 Oct 15) about 12 nautical miles off the coast near Rakaia.
A team of two investigators has begun gathering information and working with search authorities and the fishing company on investigation plan including options for inspecting the sunken vessel.
The purpose of the Commission’s inquiry is to try to find out what happened and why with a view to help preventing a recurrence.
