The Commission is investigating an accident in which the fishing vessel Taudre ran aground at about 2330 on 2 December after passing Channel Point near French Pass in the Marlborough Sounds. The reported circumstances included that the vessel developed a list, and four of the five crew abandoned ship to the nearby shore and activated an EPIRB. The vessel later refloated with the incoming tide and began to drift offshore. Additional crew boarded the vessel with the assistance of Coastguard and found that the hull had been breached and was taking on water.
