AO-2026-004 PAC-750, P2-SDA, runway excursion, Kanabea, Papua New Guinea, 9 January 2026

For New Zealand, the Transport Accident Investigation Commission provided assistance in New Zealand for the Accident Investigation Commission (AIC) of Papua New Guinea.

TAIC opened an inquiry for administrative purposes to assist as an Accredited Representative under ICAO Annex 13 provisions for an overseas counterpart’s investigation because New Zealand is the State of Manufacture of the aircraft.

The reported circumstances were that on 9 January 2026 at about 0845 local time PAC 750 XSTOL aircraft (PNG registration P2-SDA) experienced a loss of directional control after landing at Kanabea Airstrip. This resulted in a runway excursion and subsequent damage to the aircraft.
