For New Zealand, the Transport Accident Investigation Commission is assisting the Accident Investigation Commission (AIC) of Papua New Guinea.
The reported circumstances were that on 9 January 2026 at about 0845 local time PAC 750 XSTOL aircraft (PNG registration P2-SDA) experienced a loss of directional control after landing at Kanabea Airstrip. This resulted in a runway excursion and subsequent damage to the aircraft.
New Zealand is the State of Manufacture of the aircraft, and on 20 May 2026, the AIC requested an accredited representative from New Zealand to assist their investigation. TAIC has opened an inquiry under section 8(2)(e) of the Transport Accident Investigation Commission Act 1990 (to cooperate and coordinate with other accident investigation organisations overseas, including taking evidence on their behalf) and has appointed an accredited representative.
