Boeing 737-8BK, high-speed rejected take off, Melbourne Aerodrome, Australia, 16 February 2026

The Commission is assisting the Australian Transport Safety Bureau’s investigation of an incident involving a Boeing 737-8BK freight aircraft registered ZK-TXB on 16 February 2026 at Melbourne Aerodrome (Tullamarine Airport).

The reported circumstances were that during take-off, the aircraft’s crew conducted a high-speed rejected take-off after seeing a vehicle enter the runway. There was no damage to the aircraft, and no-one was injured.

The ATSB investigation is continuing. TAIC has opened this inquiry for the purpose of cooperating and coordinating with ATSB, including taking evidence on their behalf under section 8(2)(e) of the Transport Accident Investigation Commission Act 1990. TAIC will not produce a report for this inquiry. All questions should be directed to ATSB.
