The Commission is assisting the Australian Transport Safety Bureau’s investigation of an incident involving a Gippsland Aeronautics GA-8 aircraft, registration VH-LHC. The reported circumstances were that on 25 August 2025 the aircraft was approaching Djarindjin/Lombadina airport in Western Australia. The pilot observed a lack of response from normal throttle inputs. The airspeed then increased resulting in a go-around. During the climb out, the engine failed to produce full power and the pilot conducted a partial power turnback before landing.
