The reported circumstances were that track workers were involved in an overhead line electrification traction incident at Parnell, Auckland at about 1:30am on 4 September 2024. Two on-track workers were performing routine maintenance on the down main of the Newmarket branch line near Parnell station. They were in the boom basket of an elevated work platform when each received an electric shock. Both were hospitalised.
